Every year, on October 24, World Polio Day is marked. It is a contagious disease with a wide range of symptoms: from fever to asymmetric paresis and paralysis throughout the body. However, thanks to the joint work of the world medical community, most countries of the world are considered polio-free today. Maxim Igorevich Kozyrev, a doctor of the Pediatric Diagnostic Department of the Russian Children's Clinical Hospital of the Federal State Autonomous Educational Institution of Higher Education N.I. Pirogov Russian National Research Medical University of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation, told about the danger of this disease, in what forms it can occur, and what kind of treatment exists.

New Medical and Obstetric Center has been opened in Baylarovo village of the Yutaza District. The center has been erected under the republican program “Improvement of primary healthcare to the population”.

Memorial plaque to Abram Lvovich Yakobson, who was Chief Physician of the Republican Sanitary and Epidemiological Station from 1965 to 1984, has been opened in Kazan today.
