All patients who have had viral or bacterial pneumonia are registered with their local therapists. Regardless of whether a patient with pneumonia was treated in a COVID hospital or was on sick leave at home, they are included in the lists of those who need additional monitoring automatically. Pneumonia is incredibly difficult for people with chronic diseases. Even after full recovery, such patients need rehabilitation. It is successfully done by an inpatient facility, where patients receive treatment during the day. It is located in the clinics of Central Municipal Multifunctional Hospital.
The head of the day inpatient department in the Polyclinic #1 Failya Kashafutdinova oversees this work personally. All patients after severe pneumonia pass through her. In August, the department treated 91 people. As of today, 20 patients receive after-treatment.
"Patients who have suffered from viral pneumonia and need further rehabilitation are referred to us by local therapists. Unfortunately, viral infection is a very insidious thing. It can affect many organs and systems. Older people, patients with hypertension, and heart diseases are particularly at risk. During the illness, someone suffers from blood pressure, and someone begins to have arrhythmia, someone may have changes in the kidneys.
In our department, we are engaged in corrective treatment. Patients undergo physiotherapy, attend physical therapy, and electrophoresis. They received intravenous and intramuscular injections, if necessary. Besides, we have a clinical psychologist. As practice shows, patients who have suffered a severe form of viral infection are emotionally labile; they are scared. The psychologist helps them to rehabilitate emotionally," said Failya Djamaletdinovna.
The patient stays in the day inpatient facility for 10-12 days. After the recommendations, the doctors again send him to the district therapist for further observation.
