Thanks to extensive medical experience, scientific achievements, and effective educational technologies, the Kazan State Medical Academy has become a recognized medical personnel breeding ground. The Academy's professors enjoy a well-deserved reputation in Russia and abroad and are widely known as highly qualified specialists in the medical community. The above was stated today by the President of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov, at a solemn event commemorated to the 100th anniversary of the Kazan State Medical Academy.
The educational institution was established in 1920 as the Kazan Clinical Institute. In 1923, it was renamed as the State Institute for Advanced Medical Training (GIDUV). In the 1960-1980s, Kazan GIDUV became the leading center for advanced training of primary health care doctors in the Volga and Ural regions. In 1995, the Institute was transformed into an Academy.
Rustam Minnikhanov congratulated the teaching staff of the educational institution and veterans of the healthcare industry on the 100th anniversary of the Kazan state medical Academy. He noted that the Kazan Institute was the first educational institution in the USSR for doctors' postgraduate education.
The GIDUV in Kazan set an example for the creation of the system of institutes for advanced training of doctors throughout the Soviet Union.
"During the great Patriotic war, GIDUV provided medical specialists training for the front in the shortest possible time. Employees of the Institute worked tirelessly in evacuation hospitals," the President of the Republic of Tatarstan said.
Today, the Academy is actively involved in the implementation of Federal pilot projects. One ofthem is the "Development of the Medical Rehabilitation System in the Russian Federation" project. The medical Academy contributes significantly to special medical personnel training to ensure the holding of major international sports events, Rustam Minnikhanov stressed.
He recalled that in the coronavirus pandemic context, the Academy's academic staff developed interactive educational modules that allowed for special training of doctors. Besides, they directly treated patients in COVID hospitals, as well as consulted their colleagues.
"I am sure that the age-old traditions and accumulated experience will allow the Academy to implement the most daring scientific and educational ideas and projects, and the teaching staff will continue to be an example of faithful service to professional duty. You can fully count on the support of the Republic in your activities," added Rustam Minnikhanov.
Then, Tatarstan President presented the Academy's team several republican state awards and departmental honors of the Ministry of Health.
