Children are injured most often on the street, and about 40-50% of the cases are related to domestic injuries. This fact was brought up at a press conference at Tatar-Inform news agency by Alexey Glushkov, the head of the Traumatology Department of the CRCH, an orthopedic trauma surgeon.
"Street traumas prevail over domestic ones. Only about 30-40% of instances are related to injuries at home, and everything else is related to the street: falls, slides, games and so on," said the speaker.
He separately mentioned trampoline centers, where children also get serious injuries often because they are left unattended.
According to Glushkov, the absolute majority of children's injuries are due to the fault of parents who either do not provide adequate supervision for their children or do not educate them on safety rules.
It is worth paying attention to summer playgrounds where children play in winter. They can be metallic and icy, which can cause a child to fall. If a child falls on ice, he or she can get either a craniocerebral injury of varying severity or a compression fracture of the spine. As a rule, such an injury is not complicated, but the child will have to wear a body jacket for about a year, concluded Glushkov.
Also, children often break their extremities and collarbone, especially during a hockey game.
Earlier, Tatar-Inform reported that a trauma surgeon from the CRCH called on not to allow children to ride a bicycle in winter.
