We all have a long New Year's holiday ahead of us. How to spend the time fun and not become a patient with trauma? Andrey Aleksandrovich Arkadyev, head of the traumatology station of the NCDMH, shared his valuable advice with the residents of Nizhnekamsk.

Winter and injuries are compatible concepts.

"For us, traumatologists, a special burden is not only the New Year holidays, but in general the entire winter period. Our patients are injured after falling on sections of slippery roads, ice skating, snowboarding and skiing. If we compare the beginning of December of this year with the same period last year, it should be noted that 2020 for doctors of our profile turned out to be much calmer. Of course, the number of patients seeking help in the emergency room has increased these days, but we do not see such a sharp jump as in previous years."

Winter amusements with a clear mind and cold calculation.

"Of course, the most frequent injuries in patients are associated with winter amusements: slides, snow vehicles, snowboards, skates, skis. The cases often occur when patients are injured under the influence of alcohol. For example, last year, there were a lot of fractures in residents of Nizhnekamsk. As a rule, the wrist and ankle joints, chest, hip joints are affected".
