23 January 2021, Saturday

President of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov paid a working visit to the Naberezhnye Chelny. During the visit, the President of the Republic of Tatarstan took part in the opening ceremony of a new cancer center.

The medical institution presents the entire technological cycle for the provision of specialized oncological care: preventive work, diagnostics, specialized treatment, dispensary observation. All this is concentrated in one place, which will reduce the time of diagnosis, increase its accuracy and start treatment as quickly as possible. The center will provide outpatient and surgical care, radiation therapy, chemotherapy and palliative care.

"In Naberezhnye Chelny, there was an urgent need for a center for the treatment of cancer. This facility is equipped with the most modern medical equipment. It is important that a highly professional team is selected. You have a very serious task ahead. Many things have been done in the republic in terms of work in the field of oncology. Projects have been implemented and are still being implemented in Kazan and Almetyevsk. Now our Kama zone has a much-needed medical center. We wish you success in your work," Rustam Minnikhanov addressed the medical personnel.

The center is designed for 100,000 visits and 30,000 sessions of radiation therapy per year. The dispensary consists of two blocks: radiological and outpatient buildings. The cancer center will serve nine districts of the republic.

Deputy Minister of Health of the Russian Federation Oleg Gridnev noted that the new center is based on the entire set of modern requirements. "In Tatarstan, the development of cancer services in the form of a zonal approach is very welcome, which contributes to increasing the availability of cancer care to our citizens. This allows performing diagnostics at an early stage. A very correct and competent approach," he stressed.

Over the past 2 years, work has been carried out to attract and train personnel. 31 specialists were hired, including 14 oncologists, 2 radiologists, 3 ultrasound diagnostics physicians, and 3 endoscopists.

The mayor of Naberezhnye Chelny Nail Magdeev thanked the leadership of the republic and the federal government for the implementation of an important project for the entire Kama zone.

Then, Rustam Minnikhanov and the other guests examined the premises of the oncological dispensary. The center has a department of radiation diagnostics, a palliative department, a polyclinic, a department of functional diagnostics, a morphological laboratory, and an operating unit.
