In Kazan, the recipients of the Professor Davyd Mendelevich scholarship – Honored Scientist of Russia and Honored Doctor of Tatarstan, Head of the Department of Psychiatrics and Narcology were announced. The award ceremony was attended by the Chancellor of Kazan State Medical University Alexey Sozinov, State Duma Deputy, psychiatrist Boris Mendelevich and Professor, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Honored Doctor of the Republic of Tatarstan, Chief Medical Psychologist of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Tatarstan Kausar Yakhin.
Opening the event, the chancellor of Kazan State Medical University Alexey Sozinov stressed the importance of such events: "The memory that lives in the department appears in the form of practical and scientific traditions. The memory that the university has is also being modified for today's conference. This is a great, important and very understandable manifestation of memory for an educational organization. For students, just as important, memory is a competence. When you follow the traditions, you grow professionally."
Boris Mendelevich noted that Professor Davyd Moiseevich always had a special reverence for science and for his students: "Today, for the third time, the award of scholarships named after my father, scientist, psychiatrist Davyd Moiseevich is taking place. We present the prize to postgraduates and resident doctors, to whom he passed not only his knowledge, but first of all his passion for psychiatry in particular, and for science in general. He was always convinced that the desire to explore the unknown, purposefulness – these are the qualities that primarily distinguish scientists."
At the end of 2020, Veronika Konovalova, a second-year resident and Aidar Khabibrakhmanov, a third-year graduate student, were awarded for special achievements in their studies and scientific work. A nominal scholarship will be issued monthly for a graduate student in the amount of 20,000 rubles, for a resident – 12,000 rubles.
The winners were announced at the online conference of practicing psychiatrists and scientists "Modern Psychiatry: Therapy Without a Diagnosis". Among the speakers - Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor of the St. Petersburg Scientific Research Institute of Psychoneurology named after V. M. Bekhterev, Alexander Kotsyubinsky, Candidate of Medical Sciences, deputy head of the Department of Psychiatry, Psychotherapy and Psychosomatic Pathology of Medical Institute of the T Peoples' Friendship University of Russia Vladimir Medvedev (Moscow), Candidate of Medical Sciences, Associate Professor of the Department of Psychiatry, Psychotherapy and Narcology, Moscow State Medical Stomatological University named after A. I. Evdokimov, Chairman of the Council of Young Scientists of the Russian Society of Psychiatrists Alexey Pavlichenko, etc.
Addressing the conference participants, Mendelevich asked the professional community to be more active.
Note that the initiators of the scholarship were the sons of a Professor – Deputy of the State Duma of the Russian Federation Boris Mendelevich and Head of the Department of Medical Psychology of Kazan State Medical University, expert of the World Health Organization Vladimir Mendelevich. The scholarship will give postgraduates and resident doctors the opportunity to develop their skills and become outstanding representatives of their profession.

Davyd Mendelevich devoted more than 60 years of his life to psychiatry. He wrote about 230 scientific works, including 7 monographs and study guides. Under his leadership, 4 doctoral and 17 PhD theses were defended.
