Republican Clinical Infectious Diseases Hospital named after Professor A. F. Agafonov summed up the results of 2020

Today, the Republican Clinical Infectious Diseases Hospital held a meeting of the medical council dedicated to the results of work for 2020 and the upcoming tasks for 2021.

First Deputy Minister of Health of the Republic of Tatarstan Almir Abashev, Chief Infectious Disease Specialist of the Volga Federal District Irina Kravchenko, Chief Infectious Disease Specialist of the Republic of Tatarstan Khalit Khaertynov, heads of specialized departments of the Medical University and the Medical Academy were invited to the council.

Chief physician Marat Gataullin presented a report on the results of the activities of the State Autonomous Healthcare Institution Republican Clinical Infectious Diseases Hospital.

The past year has been special. We have witnessed a new global challenge – the COVID-19 pandemic.

Each phase of the hospital’s operation was closely associated with the events that took place around the clinic: border closures; decisions of sanitary anti-epidemic commission for isolation and continuous medical supervision of persons who arrived from abroad; work with the Diamond Princess passengers; the opening of the provisional hospital; engineering, construction of a new building of the clinic; the work of the hospital during the rise in the incidence of new coronavirus infection.

A special event for the State Autonomous Healthcare Institution Republican Clinical Infectious Diseases Hospital was the arrival on February 23, 2020 of a charter flight of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, which delivered eight Russian people from the Diamond Princess cruise ship – the largest hotbed of coronavirus infection at that time, among whom were three infected. These people were the first patients with COVID-19 in the Russian Federation. The decision to admit them to the clinic was made by the leadership of the republic together with the federal authorities.

In all cases, special attention was paid to the biological protection of not only patients, but also medical personnel. During the preparation of the hospital, all security measures for internal and external aspects were taken into account. Routes of movement of the personnel when visiting patients, taking biomaterial, delivery of food, medicines, transitions from non-clean to clean areas were developed. Security was carried out by employees of the Federal National Guard Troops Service and the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

The President of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov and the Minister of Health of the Russian Federation Mikhail Murashko presented the employees of the clinic with the commendations of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation for the excellent work done.

In the difficult conditions of the growth of new cases of COVID-19, the restriction of the provision of planned and high-tech medical care, the President of the Republic of Tatarstan, Rustam Minnikhanov, decided to build a new infectious diseases hospital that meets modern requirements of biological safety, which was built in 100 days.

The opening of the new building of the Republican Clinical Infectious Diseases Hospital took place on August 10, 2020. Russian Minister of Health Mikhail Murashko arrived to participate in the event. Together with the President of the Republic Rustam Minnikhanov, the State Autonomous Healthcare Institution Republican Clinical Infectious Diseases Hospital was presented with the keys to the new building, a certificate and an ambulance vehicle.

In 2020, more than 57, 000 appeals were registered, of which more than 19, 000 were hospitalized.
