Doctors are testing a pilot project to reduce stroke mortality in the Rybno-Slobodsky district of the Republic of Tatarstan

The doctors suggested identifying people predisposed to brain catastrophes in advance, inviting them for examinations, and then for hospitalization for minimally invasive X-ray and macular interventions.

"We have determined the parameters for the selection of patients who fall into the risk group for strokes. So we invite people with atherosclerosis, ischemic transistor attacks, and a history of vascular catastrophes for check-ups. Next, we invite a person to perform a high-tech operation to implant a stent in the internal carotid artery. This way, we protect him or her from a stroke that would occur after some time," explained Andrey Teregulov, the head of the First Department of X-ray Surgical Methods of Diagnosis and Treatment.

The program began testing in the Rybno-Slobodsky district of Tatarstan. In total, the district selected about 350 people for surveys. During the first day of examinations, the RCH specialists identified stroke risks in five residents of the Rybno-Slobodsky district. The patients were referred for routine hospitalization in the RCH.
