The growth territory

24 March 2021, Wednesday

We are launching a new category with the symbolic name of the Territory of Growth. It will focus on young doctors of the Nizhnekamsk Central District Multi-specialty Hospital, who in a few years managed to become good specialists in their field and take senior positions. Experienced mentors rely on them. These are young professionals who have proved that the territory of the NCRMH is the place where they have the opportunity for career growth and an incentive for self-development.

Meet the head of the Therapy Department #2 of polyclinic #2, Rim Shaikhiev. A native of the Kirov region, in 2016, he graduated from the Izhevsk State Medical Academy. He studied at the Medical Science faculty, completed an internship in Therapy. He came to Nizhnekamsk 5 years ago with his wife. She is a gynecologist, now on maternity leave. The Shaikhievs have a daughter who will be six months old in April.

For five years of work in the NCRMH, Rim Shaikhiev managed to work as a general practitioner. He successfully monitored two sections at once. For a long time, he served as the Therapy Department's head until the hospital management decided to approve the young doctor for this position finally. 29-year-old Rim Shaikhiev understands that a leadership position is, first of all, a great responsibility. And the doctor admitted to us that he loves working with patients, and he is still just getting used to the new position. However, all in good time.

I dreamed of becoming a doctor since childhood.

"It's a family thing. My grandfather was a paramedic in the village, a respected man. My mother worked as a pharmacist, made medicines. I often went to see her at work. I really remember the smell of medicines, and this atmosphere influenced my choice. My sister is currently studying to become a dentist, and my cousin is a military doctor. Choosing a direction, I did not prefer any one field of medicine. I was interested in everything, the pathology of internal diseases in general. I'm trying to figure it all out."

Nizhnekamsk chose at the job fair.

"When during our 6th year of study, a job fair was organized in Izhevsk, representatives of various hospitals came, including representatives of the Nizhnekamsk Central District Multidisciplinary Hospital. My wife and I, who is a gynecologist, were choosing where to go. The choice fell on Nizhnekamsk. When we arrived here, we immediately moved into rental housing. We lived there for ten months, and then we moved into our mortgage apartment. The keys to the new housing were handed to us by the Minister of Health of the Republic. The grant also helped us a lot. My wife and I each received 500,000 rubles."

About striving for perfection.

"I love my job; especially I love working with patients. In the clinic, you can get a huge medical experience. I'm still getting used to a manager's role, and frankly, I miss working on the site. I like everything about NCRMH: the team and the mentors. And if you approach the matter with a soul, then the management also pays attention to those who try and help make everything work out for a person in the workplace. As the manager, I have a lot of paperwork to do, such as: medical commission, primary in-hospital examination, quality control of medical care, evaluation of the work of other doctors and nurses. I have to oversee all innovations in medicine, including electronic document management.  Of course, the work takes a lot of time and effort. But you need to strive for perfection in everything, especially in medicine, where there is always something to strive for. Now, in the face of a shortage of personnel, young people have particular hopes. All roads are open to us. The main thing is to find something to do."

About the profession.

"In our work, you can always find positive moments, enjoy the fact that a person is getting better. During the pandemic, I went to work at the COVID hospital in the first stream. I admit it was scary, the unknown that what was scary. But it is also an opportunity to compare work in a polyclinic with inpatient work to gain new experience. I worked two shifts at the hospital. I want to tell everyone who has put on a white coat that they have not chosen the easiest profession for themselves, but, nevertheless, it is crucial, because we help people. I wish the young colleagues to choose the right path and never give up."
