31 March 2021, Wednesday

Tatarstan Minister of Health Marat Sadykov held a round table dedicated to providing Tatarstan citizens with medicines.

"Dear colleagues, deputies, public figures, it was decided to hold a round table on all issues of drug supply," the Minister said, starting the meeting.

The main topic was providing medicines and consumables for patients with diabetes: insulin, test strips, pumps.

"Several times a year, our Minister of Health, together with the chief specialists, deputy ministers, communicates with patient organizations. That is, this happens quite often. Diabetes is a social disease, and the Ministries of Health of Russia and Tatarstan are making a lot of efforts to solve the problem. It is impossible to solve the problem only from one side, and we always have to communicate with patient organizations. After all, our task is to preserve the health of our patients and provide them with a good quality of life," said Gulnara Vagapova, the chief endocrinologist of the Ministry of Health of Tatarstan, Head of the Department of Endocrinology of the Kazan State Medical Academy.

There are about 130 thousand patients with diabetes mellitus in Tatarstan, including 125 thousand patients with the second type and about 8 thousand with the first type.

Every year, the number of patients increases by 3%, every year about 8-9 thousand residents of the republic get diabetes.

The chief endocrinologist of Tatarstan is sure that such a meeting format will help to come to a joint solution to the issues that arise among Tatarstan citizens who have diabetes.

"Issues of providing insulin pumps with consumables: we provide our patients with them, that is, not only federal beneficiaries are provided with consumables for an insulin pump, but our republic has also decided that regional beneficiaries are also provided," Gulnara Vagapova cited as an example the decision already made.
