Alcoholic cardiomyopathy: Alcohol and the heart

“Cardiovascular diseases occupy a leading position in the structure of mortality from alcohol-associated diseases. Alcoholic cardiomyopathy accounts for 27% of deaths associated with the harmful consumption of alcohol,” said chief psychiatrist–narcologist of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Tatarstan, deputy chief physician for the medical affairs of the Republican Clinical Narcological Dispensary Rezeda Khayeva.
