Invisible and dangerous: blood-borne infections

22 March 2024, Friday

The causative agents of blood-borne infections are microorganisms in the human blood that can infect another person when they come into contact with this blood. The most dangerous blood-borne infections are Hepatitis B virus, Hepatitis C virus and Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV). All of them are associated with a violation of the integrity of the vascular membrane or the presence of lesions on the surface of the skin.

In order to protect yourself, it is necessary to take precautions:

  • use only individual personal hygiene items;
  • follow safety precautions when handling piercing and cutting tools;
  • receiving medical services, make sure that disposable instruments are used, as well as the rules for disinfection and sterilization of medical instruments and equipment are followed;
  • be extremely careful with services such as manicures, pedicures, piercings and tattoos. These procedures should be performed exclusively in professional salons, after making sure that all tools are sterilized;

Keeping standard precautions and hygiene procedures will help prevent the spread of infections and protect your health.
