Scoliosis Awareness Day: how to keep your back healthy

The International Scoliosis Awareness Day is celebrated at the end of June, which is a good reason to remind about the importance of spinal health. The staff of Nizhnekamsk Central District Multifunctional Hospital did physiotherapy exercises in the fresh air to show how to prevent the development of scoliosis.

How to protect the spine? Scoliosis is not only a child's problem. Adults are also at risk of spinal deformity due to a sedentary lifestyle and improper exercise. Experts recommend:

✔ Organize an ergonomic workplace (especially when working at a computer).

✔ Take warm-up breaks every 30-60 minutes.

✔ Do not lift weight when bending— it is dangerous for the back.

✔ Watch your posture and keep your back straight.

✔ Swimming, fitness, physiotherapy exercises strengthen the muscular corset.

✔ Avoid excessive physical exertion.

Regular exercise not only strengthens muscles and ligaments, but also improves the functioning of the heart, lungs and pelvic organs. Outdoor practicing doubles the benefits!
