Ophthalmologists from the Naberezhnye Chelny Municipal Hospital #5 rescued a patient with a 7-centimeter stick that entered the eye.
A 35-year-old man went fishing with friends. After the rain, the ground was slippery, and the man slipped and fell onto a protruding twig.
Diagnosis: penetrating wound of the orbit with the presence of a foreign body, displacement of the eyeball, visual acuity – 0%. The result of the CT scan is disappointing: partial damage to the optic nerve, a foreign body measuring 7 by 1.5 centimeters entered under the lower eyelid and stuck in just 8 mm. at the base of the skull.
"The operation lasted more than an hour. We have done everything possible to preserve the patient's eye as an organ and partially his eyesight. We succeeded, although initially, with such a severe injury, the prognosis was unfavorable. In a few days, we will remove the stitches, and our patient will be able to recover at home," the ophthalmologist Bulat Damirovich said.

The patient wholeheartedly expresses his gratitude to the doctors who performed a real miracle with such a serious injury.
