Sechenov University and the Ministry of Health of Tatarstan conducted a large-scale AI screening of heart problems in 15,000 people

The first stage of a joint project between Sechenov University and the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Tatarstan, which agreed two years ago to jointly develop artificial intelligence technologies in healthcare, has been completed. With the help of portable single-channel electrocardiographs, doctors conducted remote screening of heart problems in 15,000 people.

Two algorithms developed and patented by scientists from the Institute of Personalized Cardiology at Sechenov University were used for screening. The first method helps to detect systolic heart dysfunction (when the heart begins to contract less and releases not enough blood into the bloodstream), and the second – diastolic dysfunction (the heart loses the ability to fill with blood between contractions). Such pathologies indicate heart failure.
