Milyausha Razinovna told the visitors of the antenatal clinic in detail about the human papillomavirus (HPV) as a risk factor for the development of a number of oncological diseases, including cancer of the cervix, vagina, as well as cancer of the penis, oral cavity and oropharynx.
The specialist emphasized that HPV infection and its carriage are often asymptomatic. Penetrating into the epithelial cell, the virus begins to multiply, causing pathological changes. Over time, these changes can lead to malignant neoplasms. In women with normal immunity, the development of cervical cancer can take 15-20 years, but with disorders in the immune system, this process is dramatically reduced.
