"Cancer is not a verdict": large—scale prevention in the villages of Yelabuga district

6 February 2026, Friday

Preventive work to combat oncological diseases has been launched in all rural settlements of the Yelabuga district. Doctors on the ground are doing everything to let residents know that cancer is not a verdict if it is detected on time.

In the Mortovo district hospital, nurse Musalia Yakusheva gave a lecture where she analyzed the risk factors in detail. She recalled that 90% of cases of the disease are treatable with early diagnosis at a medical examination. The basic rules of prevention were called proper nutrition (400 g of vegetables per day), maintaining a normal weight, physical activity and quitting smoking and alcohol.
