The interventions were carried out with an interval of one day under the guidance of a specialist from the Northern Capital, Evgeny Shloido. A new technique, transcatheter valve implantation in the position of a previously installed bioprosthesis, avoids repeated traumatic open surgery. Access is through the femoral artery or the apex of the heart, and the prosthesis itself is delivered using a catheter.
A special feature of the performed interventions is the use of an artificial circulatory system throughout the procedure. Due to the valve failure, the heart could not cope with the load, and the device actually performed its function.
