Evgeny Iosifovich Sigal passed away
Since 1976, his professional career has been inextricably linked with the Republican Clinical Oncological Dispensary. Here he rose from a resident physician to one of the country's leading surgeons, head of a surgical clinic, mentor and Teacher for several generations of specialists.
Evgeny Iosifovich stood at the origins of Russian endosurgery and oncosurgery. He was the first in Russia to perform a number of complex thoracoscopic operations, actively introduced minimally invasive technologies into clinical practice, developed modern thoracic oncosurgery and formed a surgical school known far beyond Tatarstan. His name meant the entire oncosurgery of the country.
He was not only an outstanding surgeon, but also a scientist, teacher, and a man of the highest professional culture. Under his leadership, dissertations were defended, scientific papers were created, and doctors from different regions of Russia and neighboring countries were trained.
