Tatarstan ophthalmologists have completed a training cycle on keratoplasty
The training course "Keratoplasty" has been finished today on the basis of Prof. E.V. Adamyuk Republican Clinical Ophthalmology Hospital. Lectures and practical classes were conducted by MD, Professor Andrei Zolotorevsky, the author of more than 25 patents and several dozens of scientific articles.
Keratoplasty operations are very rare in our country according to Professor A. Zolotorevsky. No more than 2-3 thousand operations are held per year, for comparison in the USA - 120-150 thousand. There is an urgent need to put them on the stream, because the cornea is primarily affected at many diseases of the eyes and injuries of the organ of vision. Corneal pathology is often one of the main causes of primary visual disability. This operation is complex and requires high professional skill.
