Press conference on World Tuberculosis Day was held at the Tatar-inform news agency on Tuesday, March, 24. The questions of journalists were answered by Anna Aleshina, deputy head of the Sanitary Protection Department of the Territorial Administration of the Federal Service for Supervision of Consumer Rights Protection and Human Welfare in Tatarstan Republic and Aleksey Alekseev, head physician of Republican Clinical Tuberculosis Dispensary.
Specialist of Rospotrebnadzor A. Aleshina said that in 2020 World Tuberculosis Day is held under the motto: “It's time to act! It's time to eliminate tuberculosis”. Tuberculosis (TB) - remains the deadliest infection in the world. Every day, over 4 thousand people die from this preventable and treatable disease, and almost 30 thousand people become ill with it. 10 million people fell ill with tuberculosis in the world, and 1.45 million people (including 0.25 million people with HIV) died from this disease in 2018 according to WHO Newsletter (2019).
