Kazan doctors helped a child with a rare anomaly

27 July 2020, Monday

The patient's history began when she was examined at the polyclinic at her place of residence. District doctors sent a child with a problem of breast growth to a gynecologist in the CRCH.

"Since the spring of last year the girl’s mammary glands began to develop, and in June they began to grow rapidly," says gynecologist Lilia Khairullina.

Also the patient had examinated on a private mammological center to exclude oncopathology. “The biopsy were detected no signs of cancer or changes in the organs," - says Maxim Druzhkov, a mammologist at a private clinic.

"After numerous examinations, we took a pause, but everyone understood that surgery was necessary, so as soon as the epidemiological situation allowed, the operation took place," comments Lilia Khairullina.

"The operation was successful. The child will live a full life, only she will not be able to breastfeed. With age, the breast will acquire its natural shape," said Mikhail Pospelov, head of the CRCH surgical Department.

In the surgical practice of CRCH, this case is quite rare, given the gigantic size of the anomaly-each "breast" of the patient weighed more than 5 kg.
