The young man found out about his diagnosis by contacting the center, after treatment in two clinics of the Republic. During the examination, specialists diagnosed a malignant tumor of the Vater papilla, located in the duodenum. A multidisciplinary team of RCOC specialists decided that the operation was necessary.

Surgeons Amir Valiev and Mukhamedali Matkalykov from the 10th Oncology Department and an anesthetist Irina Zinovieva performed laparoscopic gastropancreatoduodenal resection with an intracorporeal reconstructive stage. The essence of this procedure is to remove a pylorus, duodenum, and a head of the pancreas. This method, along with modern equipment in the framework of the national "Health Care" project and high professional training of surgeons, can significantly reduce possible complications and improve the patient's quality of life. The patient is now recovering and preparing for discharge.

This is the first case of such surgical practice in the Volga region. Previously, this operation was performed only in one clinic in Moscow. It is worth noting that the successful implementation of the most complex high-tech procedures in the Republican cancer center is facilitated by a multidisciplinary approach, when a team of doctors of different specialties jointly determines patient treatment tactics. ⠀ ⠀
