We are starting our new rubric dedicated to the Senior Citizen Day. And even though our heroines have reached retirement age, it is difficult to call them elderly. They are full of energy and creative inspiration, and they are an example of how to enjoy every day.
Vera Alexandrovna Sitdikova is a linen keeper of the ophthalmology department of the Nizhnekamsk CRMH. She is creative, active, bright, and smiling. It is hardly possible to say that she has already reached retirement age by looking at this lady. Vera Alexandrovna is fifty eight years old; she is three times a mother and twice a grandmother. The youngest daughter works as a general practice physician polyclinic #1. No festive event in the hospital is complete without Vera Alexandrovna's participation. Her magic voice is the reason for that.
Vera Alexandrovna walks through life with the song. Her music teacher discovered her talent for singing. Vera and her ten siblings grew up in an orphanage. Parents tragically died when the girl was only nine years old. Once in a music lesson, Vera sang so that the teacher asked her to stay after school. From that day, her journey into creativity began. Singing became a hobby for Vera Alexandrovna. She did not receive any musical education, but she sang always and everywhere.
She also plays volleyball. Sport came into her life while in the orphanage, and it turned out to be a life long love.
"Vera Alexandrovna, do you feel your age?"
"No, of course not! I can't even tell you how old I feel. When I go to volleyball training, it's mostly young people playing there, and when you go to the gym, you feel the same age as them, even a little bit less."
"What songs do you sing most often?"
"I remember that in the orphanage, I already performed Zykina's soulful folk songs. I like the work of Valentina Tolkunova a lot. I often sing songs from her repertoire. My first day at the hospital was May 12, 2005, which coincided with a holiday, the Nurse Day. There was a concert at which I performed on this day. Without any accompaniment, I sang "Nosiki-kurnosiki" ("Little Snub Noses"). When I sing, I feel light and happy; I live in it. I sing wherever we are. On holidays, during gatherings, I am always asked to sing."
"You look great, what is the secret?"
"I do what I like. I like to sing, I sing, I like to play volleyball, I play. I want to be needed, feel needed, like to act, move. That's probably the whole secret. Also, sleep helps. I advise everyone to get enough sleep. I only wash my face in cold water in the morning. And when I take a bath, I always pour cold water on myself at the end."
"What advice would you give to anyone who has reached retirement age?"
"You need to have a positive attitude to life, smile more, move more, do not be shy, and show your talents. We have many talented people in the hospital, but they are often tight or shy to open up. I had that in me, too, but over the years, I've overcome it. Life passes by, and you need to show yourself!
