At the end of August, the air ambulance urgently delivered a 43-year-old Tatarstan citizen to the emergency hospital in Naberezhnye Chelny. Doctors diagnosed the patient with acute dissection and rupture of the thoracic aorta. He experienced a sharp pain in the back and chest.

Any delay in this situation could be fatal. Immediately upon admission, the patient underwent a CT scan, which showed the presence of about 2.5 liters of blood in the pleural cavity.

In the shortest possible time, a team of surgeons led by leading specialist Ramis A. Yakubov performed an emergency operation for aortic prosthetics. The procedure involves replacing the damaged area with an artificial vessel.

The complexity and uniqueness of the operation was to exclude any complications during the endoprosthesis. Vital vessels that supply blood to the entire brain depart from the aortic arch.

That is why the doctors of Naberezhnye Chelny performed a hybrid procedure with simultaneous prosthetics of the ascending aorta, its arch, and the descending part. Such a life-threatening condition is currently solved by an open method of surgery, but it is dangerous because of the duration of procedures, and as a result, stroke and death.

The medics had to operate as safely as possible for the patient's life. During the surgical intervention, an artificial blood circulation device was used to do this, to which the brain and trunk were separately connected to protect the hollow organs.

The operation lasted almost 4.5 hours. Doctors were able to assess all the risks in the shortest possible time and perform their duty flawlessly. Now the patient's life is not in danger.
