Legend of Tatarstan Health Care Tatyana Andreyevna Emelina passed away

The legend of Tatarstan Health Care, a veteran of the Great Patriotic War, a military-field surgeon Tatyana Emelina passed away at the age of 100.

At the age of 20, Tatyana Andreyevna was sent to the front, survived the entire war and saved tens of thousands of human lives. She participated in the battles near Leningrad, on the Kursk Bulge, in the Liberation of Ukraine, Moldova, Poland and Germany. In the post-war period, she proved to be a competent, experienced specialist, infinitely devoted to the medical profession, extremely demanding, energetic and skillful leader. She has dedicated her life to providing medical care to children and mothers.

After completing her employment, she actively participated in the veterans ' movement, engaged in public work, including those related to the Patriotic education of the younger generation. Despite her advanced age, she held meetings with young people, telling them in an interesting and emotional way about her front-line career, the everyday life of the military medical service, and the exploits of doctors at the front and in the rear. She wrote the book "Front roads of Tatarstan physicians", the 2nd edition of which was published on the eve of the 70th anniversary of the victory.

Tatyana Andreyevna Emelina was born on January 25, 1921 in the Chepchugi village of the Vysokogorsky district of the Tatar ASSR. Childhood and youth were spent in difficult conditions. The father was a worker at the gunpowder factory in Kazan, the mother gave birth to 13 children. She was the fifth. In 1937, her father passed away suddenly. On the eve of the death, her father wished her to enter to medical institute after school and become a doctor to help the sick people and save human lives.

In 1938, after graduating from high school, she entered the Kazan State Medical Institute. While studying at the University, she worked as a visiting nurse in the Third Children's Hospital of the Kirov district.

In 1942, she was drafted into the Red Army. She served as a military-field surgeon. Retired Lieutenant Colonel of the medical service. She was awarded the order of the Red Star, Patriotic War of II Degree, medals, including for the defense of Leningrad. She has 12 letters of commendation from the Supreme Commander.

She worked as a district pediatrician at the City Children's Hospital  #3 in Kazan, then as the Head of the Children's Consultation, the Head of the Department, and finally as the Chief Physician of hospital. Concurrently, she served as the Chief Pediatrician of the republic. In 1959, she was appointed as the Deputy Minister of Health Care of the Tatar ASSR, concurrently working in a children's polyclinic.

In 1966, Tatyana Andreyevna appointed to the position of the Head of the Children's Department of the City Clinical Hospital #15. In 1970, she was appointed as the Chief Physician of the City Chamber of Health Education, where she worked until 1976.

She was awarded with the titles of "Honored Physician of the Tatar ASSR" and "Excellent Health Care Worker". The name of Tatyana Andreyevna Emelina is listed in the encyclopedia "The Best People of Russia" and in the book of honor of Kazan.
