Today allergists celebrate their professional holiday

16 October 2020, Friday

These professionals fight against the "epidemic of the 21st century", as allergy is commonly called these days.

Dr. Irina Baglaeva, an allergist, works in the Consultative and Diagnostic Polyclinic of the Nizhnekamsk CRMH. She observes patients with various allergic reactions and knows everything about this disease. According to the doctor, the onset of allergies can occur at any age.

" Dr. Baglaeva, there is an opinion that an allergy, if it exists, accompanies a person throughout a lifetime. Is that so?"

"Allergies can be seasonal, and often they occur during the flowering period. Also, seasonal symptoms may worsen with fungal sensitization, that is, allergies to mold. If a person reacts to household allergens (for animals, house dust mites), such symptoms will be year-round. Thanks to modern pharmacology, allergies are treated. When identifying the primary allergen, you can prescribe drugs that will teach the immune system not to react to harmless allergens as an enemy. As a result, the immune system, figuratively speaking, stops fighting harmless allergens and returns to its main function - protecting the body from viruses, pathogenic microbes, and fungi."

"How can I suspect an allergy?"

"Symptoms of different allergies manifest themselves differently. For example, allergic asthma can cause shortness of breath, choking, coughing, shortness of breath, and wheezing. Allergic rhinitis patients have runny nose, nasal congestion, sneezing attacks, and itching in the nose and the mouth. Without timely treatment, allergic rhinitis can turn into bronchial asthma. Allergic conjunctivitis causes redness of the eyes, itching in the eyes, a feeling of sand in the eyes, and puffiness of the eyelids.

Redness, itching, dry skin are symptoms of allergic dermatitis. If these symptoms appear, it is better to contact an allergist."

We reminds that patients can make an appointment with an allergist on their own. To do so, one can use the terminals in the polyclinics of the NCRMH, and an entry is also open on the portal of public Services of the Republic of Tatarstan (uslugi.tatarstan.ru). One can make an appointment by calling the call center at 8(8555) 24-40-03. The center is open daily from 07.00 to 16:00 (except Saturdays and Sundays).

We congratulate all allergists on their professional holiday. We wish you good health, cheerfulness, and peace of mind.
