20 October 2020, Tuesday

173 patients were discharged from the Infectious Disease Department of the City hospital #5. The infectious diseases hospital is open for the second week. During this time, 1412 CT scans and about 800 laboratory tests were performed. Currently, 49 physicians and 129 nurses work directly in the Infectious Disease Department, as well as medical and nursing staff of the Reception and Diagnostic Department, Intensive Care and Radiation Diagnostics Departments, and laboratories.

- The employees who are currently working in the infectious diseases hospital already have good practical experience in treating patients with complicated pneumonia and a new coronavirus infection, - said the hospital's chief physician, Zufer Nasrtdinov. - In June, when we opened for the first time, we managed to completely rebuild our work in 2 days. It was difficult for the medical staff both physically and psychologically, but I believe that the employees coped with this task. At that time, we treated more than 1,500 patients, performed 6,600 CT scans, and performed more than 12,000 tests on COVID-19. Now we have opened for the second time, and medical workers, despite the difficult working conditions associated with the risk to life and health, did not hesitate to go to work in the Infectious Diseases Department. The pandemic has shown that these physicians and nurses work with medicine by vocation, and they perform their duty with honor and dignity on a daily basis. We ask the residents of our city to respect the work of medical workers who work in difficult conditions and give all their strength to fight infection. Today there is an increase in the incidence of diseases, the possibilities of hospitals are not unlimited, so we ask you not to neglect prevention measures, wear medical masks and observe a social distance. Elderly persons should be especially protected during the coronavirus pandemic.

Patients of different ages are treated in the Infectious Disease Department of the City hospital #5. Many patients aged 60+. The oldest patient was a 95 -year-old woman who was taken to the hospital with 25% of lung damage. After the course of treatment, the patient was discharged home in good condition under the supervision of polyclinic physicians. Also recently, women aged 92 and 82 with 50% lung damage were discharged with improvement.

I would like to note that COVID-19 is an unpredictable and not fully understood disease. It is extremely difficult in some cases. Therefore, timely treatment should not be neglected.
