For two months now, more than 600 students of the Nursing College have helped doctors in all polyclinics and hospitals of the Nizhnekamsk CRMH and the Children's City Hospital with a Perinatal Center.

"This decision was made together with the Executive Committee of the city and the Health Department in connection with the heavy load that fell on medical facilities," said the head of practical training of the Nursing College Svetlana Sycheva.

"Now, many medical workers are involved at the hospital, and their native units do not have enough workers. The case for polyclinics is especially challenging since they receive an increased number of home visit calls. There, our students take patients' temperature at the entrance, remind them about hand sanitation, and help them make an appointment with a doctor or testing through the terminals. Also, the students deliver medicines to patients who are treated for pneumonia at home. Hospitals with a hefty load on nurses get attention as well: our students help feed heavy patients, transport them to examinations, and give out medicines. Of course, the guys go through clinical practice under the supervision of mentors."

Besides, students of the Nursing College work in the Infectious Diseases Hospital. At the moment, there are 21 people involved as junior medical personnel: young men and women work in both the red and clean zones. The students are also involved in the Epidemiological Department of the Nizhnekamsk CRMH, where students help fill out registries. The students admit that it is valuable for them not only to help doctors who are very tired in this difficult time but to gain experience also.
