“Only a person can help a person!”

In the Republican Blood Center, a press conference dedicated to further implementing the project on blood plasma donation from patients with COVID-19, was held. The Deputy of the State Duma of Russia Ayrat Farrakhov, Deputy Minister of Health of the Republic of Tatarstan Ildar Fatikhov, and the Chief Doctor of the Republican Blood Center Ramil Turaev took part in the event.

 A project is being implemented at the initiative of Ayrat Farrakhov, together with the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Tatarstan and the Tatarstan branch of the United Russia party. This blood is used to treat patients with a new coronavirus infection who are in a severe medical condition in medical organizations.

Ayrat Farrakhov told how plasma transfusion helped him overcome COVID-19 and thanked for caring Tatarstan citizens.

"The purpose of today's press conference is to see how the project is developing, whether there is a need for additional incentives, whether there is enough of everything. I would like to note that a considerable amount of work has been done. I thank all Tatarstan citizens who responded and came to help, and, of course, the specialists of the blood center who work tirelessly, " A. Z. Farrakhov said.

According to the chief physician of the Republican Blood Center Ramil Turaev, in Kazan, 250 patients with Covid-19 donated blood plasma for patients with coronavirus. With each dose, plasma can be obtained for three patients; more than 700 doses were collected in total. At the moment, there are 100 doses; the stock is regularly replenished.

"Only a person can help a person. One donor who has been ill with coronavirus can help three people to recover,”  R. G. Turaev stressed.
