The New Year holidays are over. The entire population celebrated and rested, and at this time the emergency medical service of Naberezhnye Chelny was transferred to intense duty. All holidays they provided the first aid to citizens.
32 emergency medical assistance teams worked on a 24-hour basis during the New Year holidays. On ordinary days, one team leaves the station more than 18-20 times a day, on holidays the number of house-calls increased by 40-50%.
"Most of the calls were made by patients with fever. Not an exception were patients with injuries associated with winter activities - slides, tubing, snow-saucer. Often failure to follow safety regulations and a state of alcoholic intoxication," — said the head of the central first-aid station Fanusa Shakiryanova Popova.
Also, the dispatcher point of the emergency medical service received calls with hypothermia and frostbite.
Fanuza Popova said that often frostbite is received by people in a state of alcoholic intoxication: "Alcohol gives false information about warming the body, in fact, a person feels cold faster, getting severe frostbite, which can result in amputation of limbs or even a more tragic outcome."
The first signs of frostbite are easily overlooked. The skin temperature decreases, it becomes pale, loses sensitivity, but there may be a tingling or burning sensation.
"In the case of hypothermia, you need to carefully and gradually warm the frostbitten limb, wrapped in warm, soft, preferably woolen clothes. In no case, do not rub the skin with snow, because small blood vessels on frostbitten tissues are damaged. If it possible, you should give the injured person a hot tea. Do not give alcohol in any case and immediately call an ambulance team," - recommends Fanuza Popova.
Be careful and take care of yourself!
