In the Department of X-ray Surgery of the Children’s Republican Clinical Hospital, 11 endovascular operations were performed for children with congenital heart defects. The geography of patients who arrived at the Children’s Republican Clinical Hospital is wide: Perm, Kirov, Yaroslavl, Samara, Cheboksary, and Yoshkar-Ola.

The head of the department, Aidar Khamidullin, notes that children with cardiac pathologies should have been operated on last year, but due to the epidemic of coronavirus infection, all planned activity of the clinic was suspended. Parents and young patients have been waiting for this moment for a long time, and doctors have been in touch with each of them. As soon as the opportunity arose, they were all invited.

Endovascular (sparing, without incision) operations are performed not only in the Children’s Republican Clinical Hospital. The head of the department noted that the medical literacy of parents is growing, they read a lot, and communicate with other parents whose children were treated in the Department of X-ray Surgery of the Children’s Republican Clinical Hospital Kazan.

Doctors note that each of these 11 operations is individual; there can be no question of any "conveyor" approach. The team of doctors of ultrasound diagnostics and X-ray surgeons of the Children’s Republican Clinical Hospital Kazan has a personal approach to each patient. The operations were performed with the surgical tools that fit the size and age of each child.

It should also be noted that the charity funds "WorldVita", "Alyosha", and "Pomogi Spasti Zhizn’" (Help to Save a Life)" provided assistance in carrying out these operations, which purchased the necessary consumables.

All surgical interventions were successful. The operated small patients were discharged home. The head of the department, Aidar Khamidullin, also noted that this year, with the support of the funds, it is planned to conduct 50 endovascular operations for children with congenital heart defects.
