9 March 2021, Tuesday

In Kazan, 439 fewer children were born than in the previous year, and 3.9 thousand more people passed away. This was stated at the Final Annual College of the Kazan Health Department by its head — Deputy Minister of Health of the Republic of Tatarstan Vladimir Zhavoronkov.

"Analyzing the demographic situation, we can state that the year 2020 continued the declining trend of natural population growth, which began in 2016. Unfortunately, this coefficient turned out to be negative, and these factors were influenced by a decrease in the birth rate and an increase in mortality rate," the speaker said. On the whole, in Russia this indicator has also decreased. Thus, the mortality rate in Kazan was 12.8 deaths per thousand of the population, last year the coefficient was at 9.8. At the same time, the mortality rate in the Republic of Tatarstan last year was the lowest in the Volga Federal District.

The structure of the health care system of Kazan includes 26 state medical organizations of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Tatarstan, 4 departmental medical institutions and 34 non-state organizations. In total, 64 medical organizations participated in the State Guarantee Program for 2020. Last year, 115,111 people were treated in all-day facilities, and 37,583 people were treated in day in-patient facilities.

During the pandemic, the number of state organizations involved in providing inpatient care for COVID-19 patients and the number of inpatient beds was almost doubled. The refusal of planned care was a forced measure that allowed to restrain the morbidity rate and mortality rate of the population from infectious diseases. For timely control and management decision-making at the federal level, a number of monitoring services have been established, including all aspects of the work to combat COVID-19. A federal register of patients with COVID-19 and community-acquired pneumonia has been established. All medical organizations are connected to the register and enter data on each patient, medical information, laboratory research data, drug therapy data, and contact person data on-line.
