Some kidney diseases are hidden

30 March 2021, Tuesday

Nephrologists examine the functioning of the kidneys and treat diseases of these organs. They identify the causes, diagnose ailments, prescribe therapy and prevention methods, and monitor the disease's course. In the Nizhnekamsk CRMH, this difficult work is done by the nephrologist of the therapeutic department Omar Huseynov.

We talked with Omar Magomedsaidovich, and the doctor told us about the nuances of his work.

About work.

"Now there are many patients with kidney diseases: pyelonephritis, nephritis. There are patients with diabetes mellitus who eventually develop kidney problems, hypertensive patients who also have hypertensive nephropathy. Well, and age-related patients who have atherosclerotic genesis problems, who may have problems related to the blood supply to the kidneys.

Many young people are suffering from these ailments now.  There are many reasons: anatomical features, girls may have concomitant gynecological problems. Pyelonephritis can be both primary and secondary-against the background of, for example, the disease of systemic lupus erythematosus against the background of rheumatoid arthritis. There are also patients with hereditary pathology, with polycystic kidney disease, with Alport syndrome."

About prevention.

"I advise everyone, at least, to pass medical examinations, to donate urine. This analysis will help you notice changes in the body. For example, protein in the urine is a signal of the beginning of kidney problems. You need to monitor your blood pressure for those who suffer from hypertension. This can also be a signal from the kidneys. An untimely visit to the doctor may lead the patient to hemodialysis. Remember, some kidney diseases are hidden.

And, of course, the most crucial piece of advice is to lead a healthy lifestyle. I wish you all good health!"
