Wilson Gusmanovich Sharifullin has been in medicine for 53 years. He has been working in the emergency medical service as a doctor for 32 years.
The path of the medic was not chosen by chance. His father worked as a military paramedic during the war years. Wilson Guzmanovich firmly decided that he would follow in his father's footsteps and also chose medicine. After graduation, he entered the Chistopol Nursing School.
"When the war began, my father was at the battle front. He assisted field surgeons per 12 hours a day, washed bandages, and nursed the wounded. For his great services in the defense of the USSR, he was awarded the Order of the Red Star," the doctor proudly said.
Wilson Sharifullin has a lot of practical experience. To date, he has received commendations for the high performance in providing medical care to the population in 2005 and 2017. In 2007, he was awarded an honorary diploma of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Tatarstan. In 2013, he was awarded the title of "Excellent Healthcare Worker" of the Russian Federation.
Wilson Guzmanovich mentions his work with warmth and love. "Work in the ambulance is lively and interesting –there are no identical calls. Every day we are faced with extraordinary cases, which we, as doctors, must deal with immediately. An ambulance employee should be knowledgeable in all areas of medicine, whether it's a gunshot or an infectious disease. Being an emergency room doctor is not easy, only people by vocation remain to work here.
The Wilson Gusmanovich’s Brigade is designated as BIT2 (author: intensive care unit), which includes: a doctor, a paramedic and a resuscitator. Most often, their team goes to the most difficult cases.
During its work, the BIT2 team has started more than one heart, conducted more than ten thousand resuscitation measures.
Wilson Guzmanovich speaks warmly about his colleagues: "We have a real team, and we finish each others’ sentences, the life of the patient depends on teamwork, we do not have the right to make mistakes.
There are enough memorable cases in the medical practice of the "Excellent Health Worker". He shared several of them: "There was a case when I had to start a patient's heart in an ambulance on the way to the Urgent Care Hospital. We "shot" with a defibrillator about 3-4 times. Over and over again, we restored the heart rate until we got the woman to the hospital. It is especially pleasant when you hear words of gratitude in response. I also remember an elderly patient of 87 years old. Arriving at the call, they found a cardiac arrest. They took a cardiogram. The heart was not working. From the moment of the stop, 5-10 minutes passed, and we immediately started resuscitation. We performed an external heart massage, installed an epiglottic air duct, injected adrenaline every 2-4 minutes, and installed a saline drip. After some time, a cardiogram began to appear. The grandmother's relatives were happy and could not believe in the miracle that had happened. The patient was taken to the hospital."
In 2012, there was an accident that shook the whole city. On the Enthusiasts Boulevard, a 9-year-old boy fell into the fountain. Trying to help him, a 12-year-old boy who was nearby rushed into the water. At that moment, both were struck by an electric shock. Passers-by called an ambulance. 2 resuscitation teams came to the rescue. The team of Wilson Gusmanovich was engaged in restoring heart activity of a 9-year-old boy. Resuscitation work was successful. The boy was taken to the hospital. Unfortunately, the child who saved the younger boy at the cost of his life did not survive. The hero was posthumously awarded the Order of Courage.
In November, Wilson Sharifullin and his wife fell ill with a coronavirus infection. The couple got sick in November: the wife suffered from the disease in a mild form, Wilson Gusmanovich was treated in the Infectious Diseases Hospital 1/09 for about two weeks. About 64% of the lung tissue was affected.
"Thank God, the doctors there are good. They quickly got me on my feet. I am very grateful for that!" V. Sharifullin warmly thanked them.
“My wife did not delay the vaccination against COVID-19, she has received the first component. She will be invited to a second vaccination soon. The doctor himself notes that there are still enough antibodies in his body, but in the summer he plans to get vaccinated too.
"We have three children. We can't risk their health, "the doctor said.
