October 9th is World Vision Day. More than 80% of information about the world around us is obtained through vision, so its deterioration, blindness and loss of the ability to see have serious consequences. Experts note an increase in the number of patients with ophthalmological problems, including decreased visual acuity.
The main causes of visual impairment in adults are cataracts, age-related macular degeneration, glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, refractive errors and conjunctivitis. Refractive disorders and inflammatory eye diseases are common in children.
