Heart transplantation: a story of returning to life
A resident of Almetyevsk, a 32-year-old man, successfully underwent a heart transplant operation at the Academician V.I. Shumakov National Research Medical Center for Transplantation and Artificial Organs in Moscow.
A month after the operation, he returned home.
Previously, the patient's condition progressively worsened, despite qualified treatment at the Almetyevsk Central District Hospital.
In this regard, the attending physician Dilara Marselevna Akhmetshina, together with the head of the cardiology department Lilia Zakarievna Nurgatina, sought advice from specialists of the Almetyevsk Regional Multidisciplinary Hospital, the M. N. Sadikov State Clinical Hospital No. 7 . Thanks to the joint efforts of the leading healthcare institutions of the Republic of Tatarstan, a telemedicine consultation was organized and conducted with the Academician V.I. Shumakov National Research Medical Center for Transplantation and Artificial Organs and further routing of the patient to the center was agreed.
The chief physician of Almetyevsk CDH, Ildar Maksudovich Rakhimullin, a cardiac surgeon and a perfusiologist by profession, actively participated in resolving the issue and made appropriate suggestions. Ernes Victorievich Yupaev, Deputy Chief Medical Officer, together with the Center for Disaster Medicine of the Republican Clinical Hospital of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Tatarstan, organized the patient's transportation primarily to Kazan, then to the Academician V.I. Shumakov National Research Medical Center for Transplantation and Artificial Organs.
After a successful operation, the patient returned to Almetyevsk, where his pregnant wife was waiting for him, who was about to give birth. And today they all met together with the medical staff of the Almetyevsk CDH. The meeting was also attended by journalists from a local TV channel. The patient expressed his sincere gratitude to the staff of the Academician V.I. Shumakov National Research Medical Center for Transplantation and Artificial Organs, the staff of the Almetyevsk CDH and his family for their support and care.
