On July 9, 2019, 9-year-old figure skater Evelina was admitted to the emergency room . In training, while performing an element of figure skating, a tragic accident occurred, a skate with the blade of another athlete, with all its weight fell on the inner surface of her left thigh.
The wound turned out to be deadly: the superficial femoral artery, the main vessel feeding the leg, was completely severed. The femoral vein is crossed by 90%, muscles, tissues, and nerve are damaged. The girl was in a state of hemorrhagic shock.
She was admitted to the intensive care unit almost unconscious, pale, with no pulsation in the vessels of the injured limb. The doctors started a plasma transfusion and tried to examine the wound, but when the bandage was removed, massive arterial bleeding occurred. A tight tampon was applied, after which the doctors called Dmitry Osipov, a vascular surgeon from the Children's Republican Clinical Hospital, for help. The girl received a blood transfusion to stabilize her condition.
