Russian-European Educational Symposium on Thoracic Surgery named after Academician M.I. Perelman opened today in Kazan

Thoracic surgeons from all over Russia gathered today at the Amtek Educational center based on the RCH of Tatarstan to share their experience and learn new techniques.

Marat Nazmeev, Head of the Endoscopic Department of the RCH, and Mikhail Burmistrov, Head of the trauma center, Chief Visiting Thoracic Surgeon of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Tatarstan, together with Oleg Pikin, Head of the Thoracic Department of the Moscow Scientific Oncological Institute, are conducting:

- endoscopic operations for patients with achalasia of the cardia (a disease in which the lower esophagus does not relax enough during the movement of food) and Zenker's diverticulum (protrusion of the posterior pharyngeal wall at the junction with the esophagus);

- Nissen fundoplication (laparoscopic surgery for the treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease  and hernias of the esophageal orifice of the diaphragm).

In RCOD, experts performed four operations to remove the formations, including using a robot. On February 27 and 28, specialists will make presentations on lung formations, extraction of fragments from the chest, diagnosis, various injuries and a team approach to patient treatment.
