A 40-year-old patient with severe abdominal pain was admitted to the R.S. Akchurin Emergency Medical Hospital in Naberezhnye Chelny. The examination revealed choledocholithiasis, a 3 cm stone in the common bile duct.
This condition is dangerous due to a violation of the outflow of bile and requires urgent intervention. The woman underwent surgery the day after admission using a minimally invasive endoscopic method.
Evgeny Malinin, head of the endoscopic department, explained that an endoscope with a camera was inserted through the patient's mouth, the duct was widened with the help of special stents and the stone was captured with a special basket.
The procedure was monitored simultaneously through an X-ray and a video camera. The operation was performed under anesthesia, and on the third day the patient was discharged home. The woman feels well and thanks the doctors for the quick and gentle treatment.
