In the Aznakaevo CDH, they talked about the World Glaucoma Day

Every year, World Glaucoma Day is celebrated worldwide on March 6.  This day was established in 2008 on the initiative of the World Association of Glaucoma Societies and the World Association of Glaucoma Patients.

Glaucoma, both in the world and in Russia, occupies a leading position among the causes of incurable blindness and is an important medical and social problem.

A School of active longevity was held. The lesson was conducted by ophthalmologist Valiullina Z.Kh. She told the audience that glaucoma is a disease characterized by increased intraocular pressure followed by the development of optic nerve atrophy, while the insidiousness of the disease is often asymptomatic, which leads to the detection of glaucoma in the late stages, when the disorders become almost irreversible, and lack of treatment leads to a progressive decrease in vision up to complete blindness.

The specialist noted that glaucoma refers to multifactorial diseases, the risk of developing glaucoma increases due to age, burdened heredity, ethnic characteristics, eye injuries or inflammatory eye diseases, against the background of chronic diseases, for example, diabetes mellitus or hypertension, and depends on lifestyle: bad habits, low physical activity, prolonged visual stress, chronic stress, psychoemotional and other factors.
