Thanks to innovative antiviral drugs, hepatitis C has now become a completely curable disease.
Starting from 2023, the Naberezhnye Chelny Infectious Diseases Hospital has been operating a specialized day hospital within the framework of the federal program "Combating viral hepatitis C" of the national project "Long and Active Life".
During this time, 313 patients successfully completed treatment and got rid of the virus. In 2025 alone, 217 people recovered.
In addition to treatment, the hospital actively conducts diagnostics: elastography is performed, a modern method of examining the liver that allows detecting pathologies in the early stages. Doctors remind us that hepatitis C can be asymptomatic for a long time, but without treatment it leads to cirrhosis and liver cancer.
To avoid infection, it is important to use only disposable medical instruments, get tattoos and piercings in licensed salons, and practice safe sex. If an infection is suspected, consult a doctor as soon as possible.
