Caries remains one of the main dental problems of mankind. According to statistics from the World Health Organization, almost 90% of the world's population suffers from oral diseases during their lifetime, and many of these problems can be avoided if prevention is carried out from an early age. Today, science offers new solutions and approaches to protecting teeth from caries, allowing everyone to maintain a healthy smile for a long time.
What is caries and why is prevention important?
Caries is a disease caused by the action of acid–forming bacteria (Streptococcus mutans, Lactobacilli) on the surface of teeth. These bacteria feed on the remnants of sugars and starches, releasing acid, which gradually dissolves the hard tissues of the tooth, leading first to the appearance of spots, and then to the formation of holes (cavities).
