Specific and sometimes serious and fatal complications force to improve the technologies used in hysteroscopy. One of new methods of operating is new shaver technology using endometrial morcellation or “cold knife”. Series of operations using endometrial morcelletor (shaver) made by K.Storz has been conducted in gynecology unit of RCH of RT HM in June - July, 2014. All patients have successfully transferred operations and have been discharged.
Operations have been conducted by D.M., the senior lecturer of obstetrics and gynecology department №1 of
КSМU Kliucharov I.V. and the doctor of gynecology unit of RCH Yakovleva R. M. Myomas of body of the womb and polyps of various sizes and localization have been operated.
Historical note: The first samples of gynecologic shaver have been presented in the end of 2006. Endometrial shaver has been created on the basis of the existing technology came from otorhinolaryngology. Its basis is the construction of the twirled knife inducted through the instrumental channel of surgical hysteroscope.
What advantages has shaver technology got in comparison with traditional surgical hysteroscopy and hysteroresection?
The operations with using of this technology give the possibility to exclude perforation owing to the wrong application of the electric power, combustions under passive electrode owing to uncontrollable leak of current (monopolar), deterioration of pattern of surgical area by the cut slices of tissue during operation, fault of neck of uterus and perforation owing to repeated entering and eliminating of the instrument for deleting resected slices. The shaver technology is easier in mastering because demands less time for private experience obtaining in comparison with process of mastering of surgical hysteroscopy –hysteroresection.
As a result we gain safety and the less traumatic operating method, allowing saving reproductive organ to the woman.
