He dreamt to become the violinist, to play the big orchestra. The dream has come true, but the stroke has destroyed the prospects. The left arm could not hold strongly and at the same time gently a fiddle bow … But he has not given up and has stayed with music. Today he works as tuner, because the absolute "violin" hearing has made him the high-class professional. He has forced his arm to obey by long and difficult trainings. A year ago neurosurgeons of RCH have presented him a magnificent gift which helped to expand the volume of his movements.
According to the program approved in Russian Federation, Tatarstan has the quota to obtain of certain number of pumps – special devices for patients with spasticity (anapeiratic cramps).
The pomp, stitched in skin in abdomen and connected to backbone with thin silicon drainage tube with titanic catheter on the end, is capable to supply uninterruptedly the spinal cord of the patient with the necessary solution. The pomp must be changed in nine-ten years. The pomp is put on to patients gratuitously within the limits of the program despite the expensiveness (the prize of pomp is about million rubles).
The candidates for this device are: patients with ICP in posttraumatic status, the people who had stroke and have gained partial or complete immobilization, patients of neurology units.
– When we have started to establish these pumps it was necessary to begin with selection of patients –said Timur Bikmullin, head of neurosurgery unit of RCH.
If there is a possibility to take away a little bit of human pain, this possibility should be used.
