These days in St-Petersburg under the initiative and under the direction of the academician of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences professor A.G.Chuchalin the working meeting on global initiative GOLD - the international committee on diagnostics and treatment of COPD has taken place. COPD is a serious, progressing chronic disease of the respiratory organs the main cause of which is the tobacco smoking. Professors E.I.Shmelev (Moscow) and Alexander Andreyevich Vizel (Kazan) were moderators of the event.
