Paramedic Day is celebrated today in Russia

February, 21 is Paramedic Day in Russia. Paramedic is a specialist with a secondary medical education. The duties of the paramedic depend on the place of his work. He can (like a doctor) independently diagnose and carry out treatment, write out disability certificate, and also, if necessary, refer the patient to a specialist.

The first ambulance in the Russian Empire appeared thanks to the doctor of medicine Attenhofer G.L., who proposed creating a service to providing first aid at home in 1818.
