"Patients should feel confident in us»

Olga Nosova, a physician at the 2d Cardiology Department of the Nizhnekamsk Central Regional Multifunctional Hospital, worked her first two-week shift at the COVID hospital.

"For me, working here was new. It is different from working in a cardiology department. I worked on the second floor, where the ICU and ER are. In addition to giving medications, we advise patients to lie on their stomachs as much as possible. This way, the lungs stretch out, and the saturation improves. Usually, patients put a cushion or pillow under the knees and lie in this position. This seemingly simple method contributes to positive dynamics.

The number of young people in the hospital has increased, but there were more elderly patients before that. There are a lot of young people, including on the second floor. And even though many do not have concomitant diseases, the disease is severe. Many patients are emotionally labile and need to be calmed down. We try to make patients feel confident in us. We must inspire them with strength, inspire them with the belief that they will recover.

While working at the hospital, my worldview changed. Watching the patients, I saw how dangerous the disease is. Initially, the treatment may go well, but then, in just a couple of days, the patient is in intensive care. I would like to wish everyone to follow the rules of personal hygiene. Taking into account that now there is an increase in the incidence of cases, it is necessary to wear personal protective equipment, wash your hands more often, and avoid crowded places," said Olga Nosova.
