Medical detachments will once again visit the regions of the republic

9 December 2020, Wednesday

From December 9 to December 13, 2020, two medical detachments will visit the Zainsk and Leninogorsk districts of the Republic of Tatarstan as part of the "Medical landing" volunteer campaign. The main part of work will be the prevention of HIV and AIDS in disadvantaged areas of the Republic of Tatarstan on the spread of HIV infection.

Participants of the campaign will be students, fighters of the detachments of the Kazan State Medical University and Kazan Medical College. The main focus of the work of the detachments will be on informing citizens about HIV and AIDS, reducing discrimination against HIV-positive citizens and motivating the population to test for HIV infection. In Kazan, participants of the "Medical Landing" were trained on HIV testing and counseling. In the regions of the republic, medical students will pursue free anonymous rapid testing and provide advice on this issue.

Providing medical, targeted and social assistance to the population of rural areas will become a traditional part of work with residents of districts. In schools and colleges, medical students organize master classes on first aid, conversations about measures to prevent and combat coronavirus infection and hygiene education.

Medical landing begun with the District campaign "Medical Landing of the Volga Federal District". It was held in the winter of 2019 in the Zainsk district of the Republic of Tatarstan. During the campaign, 20 participants of medical detachments from 7 regions of the Volga Federal District visited 11 localities, where more than 350 residents were provided with targeted, social and medical assistance.

The upcoming trip will be the fifth in the history of the medical landing and will include a new cluster of work: prevention of HIV and AIDS among the population of the most disadvantaged areas for the spread of this infection. The event will be held within the framework of the cooperation and partnership agreement between the Republican Center for Student Labor Detachments and the Republican Center for Prevention and Control of AIDS and Infectious Diseases of the Ministry of Healthcare of the Republic of Tatarstan. The Regional Public Organization "Prevention and Initiative" will also act as a partner of the campaign, and the event will be implemented at the expense of grant funds from the Ministry of Youth of the Republic of Tatarstan, received as a result of the Republican grant competition for the implementation of socially significant projects for children and youth in 2020.
